First City Art Center’s popular “Hot Glass, Cold Brew” series is coming back next month with a special holiday and ugly sweater party on Friday, December 8.
If you’re never been before, here’s how it works: for the price of admission, attendees receive a signature handmade glass or ceramic cup along with two complimentary beers from Pensacola Bay Brewery. In addition to live glassblowing demonstrations, the December event will feature pottery demonstrations as well as guest artist Kazuki Takizawa, a Japanese glass artist who has worked and taught at various glass educational facilities including Pilchuck Glass School and Public Glass.
Patrons will also enjoy light fare provided by Fish Fry Magazine, as well as live music, a gallery opening showcasing works from First City gallery artists, an art market, and a holiday sale. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday or ugly sweater for fun photo ops.
As always, First City Arts Center members get in first at 5:15 p.m., followed by advance ticket holders at 5:30 p.m. General admission tickets will be available starting at 6:00 p.m.
First City Art Center is located at 1060 North Guillemard Street in Pensacola’s Long Hollow neighborhood. Tickets for December’s Hot Glass, Cold Brew event are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Reduced admission for children over 12 — which doesn’t come with a glass or cup — is $10, while children under 12 attend free of charge.
