The yet-to-be-named brew “will take on true Mardi Gras flavors in the spirit of the season,” said Perfect Plain cofounder and CEO D.C. Reeves. The beer will be unveiled at a special Feb. 2 launch party at the company’s taproom at 50 East Garden Street, where a naming contest will be held. Pensacola’s krewes are invited to attend the event, held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and to take part in the contest.
The winning name will be announced Monday, Feb. 5 on Perfect Plain’s social media channels. The brew will carry the name through Fat Tuesday, while supplies last. The winning krewe will also receive a one-sixth barrel of the beer for its float during the Pensacola Grand Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, Feb. 10, as well as free event space rental at Perfect Plain during 2018.
“We are thrilled to work with Perfect Plain Brewing Co. to give Pensacola its first official Mardi Gras beer,” said Danny Zimmern, president of Pensacola Mardi Gras Inc. “Their delicious brew will add a whole new spirit to this most spirited of celebrations.”
