The Groovy Goat — the first restaurant in the “Downtown District” at The Park at OWA, the new theme park located in Foley, Ala. — is set to open on September 30.
The “sports and entertainment restaurant” is the latest concept from Sunshine Ventures, an Orlando-based restaurant company which held the development agreement for Buffalo Wild Wings in Central Florida, among several other concepts. Several of the company’s restaurants were located in that region’s tourism corridor, including two near the entrances to Walt Disney World.
“This area of Alabama has started a tourism renaissance and we’re excited to bring to fruition a concept sports fans, families and nearly anyone will find appealing,” said Andrew Gross, CEO of Sunshine Ventures. “What the Poarch Band of Creek Indians is building will be a true destination for the entire Southeast and we believe a concept like Groovy Goat will become an iconic part of this growth.”
OWA’s “Downtown District” is located at the park’s front entrance, outside the park gates, and will feature a number of restaurants and shops. A ticket to The Park at OWA is not required to dine at Groovy Goat.
When it opens, Groovy Goat will feature the largest screens for sports in the area, OWA officials said, including a 26-foot featured game screen and nearly two dozen 80-inch monitors. The restaurant will also feature more than 40 arcade games and several experiences to be announced later.
Groovy Goat’s “scratch kitchen” will offer a twist on many of the traditional sports restaurant offerings, including “tableside nachos,” grilled wings, and an “All-Day Hangover” menu, where twists on breakfast are served throughout the day. Other menu items include soups, salads, steaks, and seafood.
“We’ve worked hard to beat our customers’ expectations on what they would find in a traditional sports bar,” Gross said. “Our food will be anything but typical and the experience will be unlike any they have seen at a sports bar.”
“We are quite particular in finding the right operator that will provide a unique dining experience for our OWA guests,” said Greg Rawls, Director of Business Development for OWA. “We believe Andrew’s track record of success in one of the world’s largest tourism area is impressive, and that Groovy Goat will provide a fun cutting edge sport bar experience. We’re looking forward to the families coming to OWA having a great option for sports and other entertainment after experiencing a day at OWA.”
The OWA location will be the first for the Groovy Goat concept, which is currently looking to expand in destination markets across the Southeast.
