A significant change to the way traffic flows in and out of Pensacola Beach’s popular Casino Beach parking lot will go into effect Saturday, May 13, county officials said Friday.
Beginning Saturday, the only entrance to the parking lot will be on the Via de Luna side, while the Fort Pickens Road side will be exit-only. The changes will cause the parking lot to function in a “circular configuration,” in hopes of improving traffic flow, officials said.
Although the traffic flow will change starting Saturday, construction of a new traffic signal on Via de Luna will not be completed until next week, officials said. In the meantime, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies will direct traffic in the area during peak times.
The new signal will provide a new westbound left turn from Via de Luna into the Casino Beach lot, and will include a pedestrian push button signal. Officials said the new traffic signal and push button signal will be coordinated with the existing signal at the intersection of Via de Luna and Fort Pickens Road.
