The 34th annual Pensacola JazzFest will take place Saturday through Sunday at historic downtown Pensacola’s Seville Square.
The annual event has gained a reputation as one of the best jazz festivals in the southeastern United States, bringing together top professional artists, clinicians, and student musicians for an entertaining and educational weekend of jazz. The Southeast Tourism Society recognizes the festival as a “Top 20 Event in the Southeast for April 2017.”
Headliners include West Coast super trumpeter Wayne Bergeron; international jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer and recording artist Greg Abate and his quintet (Fred Domulot, Mike Esneault, Steve Gilmore and Bobby Koeble); Nashville’s high-energy and hard-swinging Annie Sellick and the Hot Club; and Orlando’s Fusion Beat famous for its jazz, world music, Latin and funk. The lineup also includes the Don Snowden Big Band, the Gulf Coast Collegiate All-Star Jazz Band, as well as many greater Pensacola area high school and college jazz bands.
The two-day event is free and open to the public, with the festival kicking off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and the last performance starting at 5 p.m. It continues 11 a.m. Sunday, with the last performance starting at 6 p.m. Seating is limited and attendees are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs.
