Zarzaur Law, P.A. will be hosting a fundraiser event during downtown Pensacola’s Gallery Night on Friday to benefit the family of Capt. Jeff Kuss, the Blue Angels pilot who was killed when his jet crashed on June 2.
Donations collected during Zarzaur’s popular “Legal Graffiti” event will be contributed to a GoFundMe campaign set up for the Kuss family which has yet to meet its $500,000 goal.
“We saw a way to get involved in the donation process,” said attorney Joe Zarzaur. “It’s such an unfortunate situation and I knew the GoFundMe goal for the Kuss family hadn’t been met yet. My firm and I thought this could help his family during such a trying time.”
The U.S. Marine Corps pilot was participating in a practice flight near Smyrna, Tennessee when his F/A-18 Hornet went down. An investigation into what caused the crash is still underway. Kuss’ death was the first fatality for the Blue Angels — the U.S. Navy’s flight demonstration team, based out of Naval Air Station Pensacola — in nearly a decade. The team recently resumed its performance schedule after standing down for a month.
Capt. Kuss left behind a wife, Christina, and two small children, 4-year-old Calvin and 1-year-old Sloane. Family members established a GoFundMe account with a goal of $500,000 to ensure Kuss’ wife and children would be taken care of. So far, over 75 percent of that goal has been met. Christina Kuss and her children will be briefly attending Gallery Night and Legal Graffiti this Friday to show their appreciation and support for those who have donated thus far.
“Navigating life without Jeff is terrifying and overwhelming,” Christina said on the GoFundMe page. “But I feel your love and appreciate this support more than I can say.”
Zarzaur Law’s “Legal Graffiti” event will begin at 6:00 p.m. this Friday, July 22 in front of the firm’s offices, located at the corner of Palafox and Romana streets in Downtown Pensacola. The firm will be accepting donations to support the Kuss Family throughout the night.
