Okaloosa County officials today announced the appointment of three new department heads.

Alvin Henderson, Jr.New Public Safety Director Alvin Henderson, Jr., started on January 5 after confirmation by an extensive selection committee and the Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners. Included in his 26 years of experience in emergency management, he served as the Emergency Operations Manager at Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, (population 1,227,066), for over five years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and is a Certified Emergency Manager.

Stefan Vaughn (CCO)The county’s new Chief Correctional Officer is Stefan Vaughn, who will follow in the footsteps of recently retired Paul Lawson. Mr. Lawson served the county for 34 years and trained Vaughn for the job. In addition, Mr. Vaughn is a certified corrections officer and has completed both law enforcement and corrections academies, complementing a Master of Public Administration Degree.

GinNeal McVay head shotInterim Human Resources Director GinNeal McVay becomes the permanent Human Resources Director for Okaloosa County. McVay holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, is a Certified Professional by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM-CP), and holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.

“We are fortunate to have dedicated, talented employees that are trained for a career in the county, and continue to add certifications in order to serve the citizens of Okaloosa County at their best,” said Chairman Kelly Windes, commissioner.
