Mobile mayor Sandy Stimpson will kick off the new year with a series of town hall meetings, he announced this afternoon.
Stimpson will hold four town hall meetings in January as part of a “New Year, New Mobile” Resolutions Tour, using the meetings to “share [his] vision for the future of this community.”
“Mobile is on the move, and we need to carry that momentum into the New Year,” said Stimpson in his announcement, which he made via social media. “This series will give you multiple opportunities to influence the future of our City!”
Each of the meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. The four dates and locations for the town hall meetings are as follows:
Thursday, January 7
550 Rickarby Street
Tuesday, January 12
Cottage Hill Baptist Church
4255 Cottage Hill Road
Thursday, January 14
Toulminville Public Library
601 Stanton Road
Tuesday, January 26
Corpus Christi Catholic Church
6300 McKenna Drive
The January tour isn’t Stimpson’s first set of town hall style meetings; the first-term mayor has held a number of “Chat and Chew” events at Mobile area restaurants since taking office in November 2013.
On the Florida side of the border, Pensacola mayor Ashton Hayward held 23 town hall events during his first term in office, but has not held any such meetings in more than two years. Vernon Stewart, a spokesman for the mayor, tweeted in September that Hayward would be announcing new town hall events, but that tweet has since been deleted.
