Pensacola’s first ever Beats & BBQ Festival will blaze into town on Saturday, November 14 — bringing with it a day filled with live music, delicious barbecue and fun activities.
The block-party-style event will take place noon to 5 p.m. at Blend Lounge, in downtown Pensacola — with all proceeds going to support the domestic violence awareness project of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
The festival — a first for Blend — will feature live DJ’s, barbeque vendors, bar games and giveaways on Intendencia Street between Palafox and Jefferson — all leading up to a city-wide bartending competition at 1 p.m.
Mixologists from across downtown Pensacola will compete to see who can craft the best cocktail — using a surprise ingredient revealed at the beginning of the competition. The top bartender will win $500, receive tickets to a Jacksonville Jaguars game and have their drink placed on the Blend menu for one year.
The momentum will continue from 3 to 5 p.m., when Afro-pop outfit The Hip Abduction takes the stage on Intendencia. The high-energy sextet — hailing from St. Petersburg, Florida — features dub-reggae bass lines laced with African stringed instruments and funky, Afro-beat percussion.
