Fort Pickens will host a schedule of “living history” programs in celebration of Memorial Day next week, Gulf Islands National Seashore officials announced Tuesday.

The event is presented in partnership with the Walton Guard. Rangers and volunteers will present special programs about soldiers stationed at the fort during the Civil War as well as commemorative programs for Memorial Day, officials said.

The schedule of events is as follows:

10:30 am — School of the Soldier: Musket Firing Demonstration
Meet at the Fort Pickens Bookstore

12:00 pm — Raising the United States Flag to Full Staff
Meet at the Fort Pickens Flagpole

2:00 pm — Garrison of Freedom: Fort Pickens Program
Meet at the Fort Pickens Bookstore

3:00 pm — National Moment of Remembrance
Meet at the Fort Pickens Flagpole

3:30 pm — School of the Soldier: Musket Firing Demonstration
Meet at the Fort Pickens Bookstore

4:30 pm — Lower the United States Flag
Meet at the Fort Pickens Flagpole
