Calling all proud parents of fur babies, animal rights champions, and dog people! On Saturday, December 17th from 6 to 10 p.m., one downtown business and local animal rescue organization will come together for the first annual Bark for a Bottle benefit event, seeking to raise money for SouthBARK Animal Rescue.

The benefit, organized by the owners of Lucy’s in the Square, Ron and Heather Kilpatrick, gets behind the local non-profit, all-breed animal rescue that rehabilitates and rehomes animals from high-kill shelters along the Gulf Coast of Alabama & Florida.

“We’re so happy to be able to give back in a way to such an important Pensacola non-profit,” said Heather Kilpatrick. “When I was first introduced to SouthBARK, I immediately saw how important of a mission they have for our local community.”

Lucy’s, which is named after the Kilpatrick’s golden labrador retriever, opened this Summer in the Seville Square neighborhood of downtown Pensacola. The bar and restaurant serves a wide selection of wine and craft beer, along with “shareables,” a twist on traditional appetizers, including flatbreads, tacos, and cheeseboards.

Tickets to Bark for a Bottle are $25 and include a bottle of wine and a voucher for one pint from the Pensacola Bay Brewery. $10 of each ticket will go directly to SouthBARK animal rescue.

Additionally, Lucy’s will hold a raffle for several different items from Pensacola Bay Brewery, Lucy’s in the Square, the Pensacola Pedal Trolley, and several other pooch-related prizes.

“There’s no goal,” Kilpatrick admits, “but obviously we want to raise as much as possible! We would love to make this a successful annual event to benefit our animal community.”

Those interested in attending Bark for a Bottle can RSVP here.

If attending the event is out of the question for you, feel free to make a contribution on your own time at the SouthBARK website.
