A new $2.4 million development is underway in downtown Pensacola.
On Thursday, the law firm of Taylor, Warren and Weidner, P.A. held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new headquarters at the corner of Main Street and Barrancas Avenue.
The development will be called the Spearman Center, paying homage to the brewery and bottling facility that once called the property home. Built in 1935, the former brewery supplied the Gulf Coast with Spearman brand beer and was known as “one of the most modern breweries of its size in the South.”
“Our downtown Pensacola core has four gateways into our community,” said Michael Carro, principal at Sperry Van Ness Commercial Real Estate. “The western corridor has been a bit neglected…and today we’re going to change that with the Spearman Center.”
The 22,000 square foot building will house the law firm as well as several retail and professional office spaces.
“The Spearman Center is going to be a modern, attractively-designed building with great curb appeal,” said Stephanie Taylor, Senior Partner at Taylor, Warren & Weidner, P.A. “We are excited not only to make it the future home of our firm, but also to offer other businesses affordable space in an excellent Downtown location. Developing this long-vacant property is a great opportunity to bring economic growth to our area.”
The Spearman development follows the completion of the neighboring $2 million flagship store for Kesco Kitchen and Supply Co. When complete, the development will offer several retail and office spaces ranging in size from 1,500 to 10,000 square feet that are currently available for lease.
Established in 2006, Taylor, Warren & Weidner, P.A. is a Pensacola law firm providing legal services in a variety of practice areas, including personal injury, insurance disputes, disability claims, and construction law. The firm’s current office is located at 1823 North 9th Avenue.
Designed by Quina Grundhoefer Architects, the development’s general contractor is Vision Construction.
The Spearman Center is expected to be complete in Spring or Summer 2017.
