Eight months after a January rally that attracted nationwide attention, it looks like Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is coming back to Pensacola.
Trump’s website lists a Pensacola rally scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9. Like the January rally, the event is set to take place at the 10,000-seat Pensacola Bay Center. Those wishing to attend can register for up to two tickets on Trump’s website.
The January rally made national headlines thanks to a pre-rally presentation in which the “USA Freedom Kids,” a patriotic-themed trio of preteen girls, performed a Trump-centric song and dance routine. “President Donald Trump knows how to make America great,” the girls sang. “Deal from strength or get crushed every time.”
The trio and Trump’s campaign have since had a falling out, prompting the girls and their manager to file suit against Trump.
Trump also made headlines by insulting an unnamed sound equipment installer after having problems with his podium mic. “And by the way, I don’t like this mic,” Trump said at the rally. “Whoever the hell brought this mic system, don’t pay the son of a bitch that put it in. This mic is terrible. Stupid mic keeps popping. Do you hear that George? Don’t pay him! Don’t pay him.”
Reached by phone following the rally, a manager with the sound vendor pointed the blame at Trump. “The pre-show was fine, the other speakers were fine, and Mr. Trump was fine until about halfway through when he started swallowing the mic,” he said.
