A Pensacola renewable energy supplier is expanding its operations and is on track to bring hundreds of manufacturing jobs to the Gulf Coast.

Denmark-based Jupiter Group, a supplier to General Electric’s wind energy manufacturing plant in Pensacola, celebrated the announcement with its expansion into a new multi-million dollar, 25,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the Ellison Industrial Park.

Jupiter Group CEO Jens Kristensen, along with plant manager Sean Guidry, were joined by leaders from the community to celebrate the momentous event for the growing company.

“This expansion is the third of its kind in two years for Jupiter Group,” said Kristensen. “It comes at just the right time as the need for capacity in the U.S. market is growing and in demand.”

The new building is designed as an assembly plant for the protective coverings for the GE nacelles and components of the wind turbines.

“The assembly hall has freed up needed space in the manufacturing building where Jupiter Group Pensacola is casting wind turbine nacelle cover and spinner components,” said the company in a statement. “The expansion has doubled the facilities capacities and is prepared for new orders.”

Jupiter Group’s intention in the United States market is to rapidly grow its market share in the wind energy sector.

Company officials said their Pensacola operations are prepared for growth. The new assembly plant was built to be modular and flexible for changes in infrastructure and assembly methods.

“The idea that an assembly line has to go one way or another is thrown away,” the company said. “The plant’s workstations are built to be mobile. Pneumatic and electrical infrastructure was installed for growth and flexibility and the facility also houses a new training center for new employees.”

Though the expansion is only increasing the original space by 50%, it is doubling the capacity of the company’s Pensacola operations. Aside from additional capacity, the company has already grown to add over 150 new jobs to the area, with more than 50 additional jobs recently announced.

With this addition Jupiter Group Pensacola is now occupying 100,000 square feet at Ellison Industrial Park. The existing manufacturing facility is staying in its current location adjacent to the new assembly plant.

Since it began operations in Pensacola in 2007, the company has delivered more than 20,000 nacelle covers worldwide.
