Fort Walton Beach is now the “Welcome Home” City. Officials voted Tuesday to endorse a new branding initiative created by the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce and community partners.

The effort to capture a “unifying identity” for both the local community and external visitors led to the slogan’s development. In a news release, city officials said the “Welcome Home” City tagline is designed to capture the “multi-dimensional perspective of those who call Fort Walton Beach home,” including the military community, summer tourists, and winter guests.

“For so long, we as a community, and as a branding initiative, were trying to find out what we want to be, and once we realized what we are already, it was very easy for us to capture the essence of this,” said Ted Corcoran, President of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The new tagline joins two other new slogans — “the Happiest City in Florida” and “Find YOUR Happy” — which will be used for new external marketing and promotional campaigns. The “happiness” theme began to take shape when the National Bureau of Economic Research listed Fort Walton Beach as one of the “Happiest Cities in America,” officials said.
