Organizers for “Slide the City” announced today that the event would return to Pensacola on May 21. The touring event is essentially a 1,000 foot long Slip’N Slide that’s paired with music, food, and other vendors to create a “block party” atmosphere.
Last year’s Slide the City tour stopped in over seventy cities around the world, including Pensacola. Organizers said that they planned to produce more than 100 events in 2016.
As with last year’s event, the slide will be located on Palafox Street. In order to slide, participants must be at least five years of age and 46 inches tall and either bring an inflatable tube or purchase one on site.
“This unique event was a huge success in Pensacola last year, and we are excited to come back and make it even better,” said Spencer Hunn, Slide the City co-owner. “We have added wave times this year to help spread the crowd out throughout the day and create shorter wait time for sliders!”
Thousand of people took part in last year’s Pensacola event, organizers said, adding that they expect even more participants this year. This year’s Slide the City event will take place on Saturday, May 21 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tickets, which start at $13, are available at slidethecity.com.
