Presidential candidate Donald Trump isn’t a fan of accused Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl.
Trump’s hourlong speech at the Pensacola Bay Center last night was overflowing with insults — lobbed at everyone from the media to his opponents to the poor sound guy — but he reserved some of his harshest comments for Bergdahl, calling him a “dirty, rotten, no-good traitor.”
Bergdahl is a U.S. Army soldier who walked off his post in Afghanistan in June 2009 and was quickly captured by Taliban-affiliated fighters. After nearly five years in captivity, the Obama administration secured Bergdahl’s release was in 2014 in exchange for releasing five Guantanamo Bay detainees to Qatari custody. Bergdhal is currently facing a courtmartial for desertion and endangering his fellow soldiers.
“So we get this dirty, rotten, no-good traitor, who twenty years ago would have been shot, who forty years ago they would have done it within the first hour,” Trump said. “Frankly, I would take that son of a bitch and fly him back and drop him right over the top.”
