In a community known for its family-friendly and easygoing beach town atmosphere, Fort Walton Beach has made the list of the “Top 100 Small Towns in America,” as reported by Livability. Described as a “shining spot along a stretch of beach communities,” the publication ranked Fort Walton Beach alongside towns with populations of 20,000 or less. Fort Walton Beach was ranked amongst the towns with the highest ratings for amenities and education.
This is Livability’s third annual Best Places to Live list. The publication examined more than 40 data points each for more than 12,000 towns with populations between 1,000 and 20,000, and collaborated with urbanist Richard Florida, assistant clinical professor Steven Pedigo from the Initiative for Creativity and Innovation in Cities at New York University’s School of Professional Studies, data partner EMSI and its board of advisers for their methodology.
